Backstage at Kimhekim in Paris, a quiet romance lingers—silhouettes in motion, whispers of fabric, and the soft glow before the chaos of the runway.
Photographer Thomas Lizzi takes us backstage at Kimhēkim at the iconic Palais de Tokyo kick off Paris Fashion Week. The mood fit the theme “I Feel Love” as guests were greeted under a gigantic disco ball. Disco references and pieces were brought forward for a new generation, ready to explore all the joys of going out while balancing the banalities of everyday. Studio 54 and Paris iconic hot spot Le Palace have been in the fashion zeitgeist again in recent years. Seoul-based designer Kiminte Kimhekim give us a new spin, reminiscent of the tail end of a party, or back to work.
For next spring, Kimhēkim continues to merge Parisian sophistication with Korean cultural references. This season the maison’s work is marked by a sense of humor and romance with oversized bows, reimagined white linen staples, and sculptural silhouettes you can see why after honing his craft at Balenciaga, Kiminte launched his namesake label, to bring the Korean techniques he learned from his grandmother and aesthetics in unexpected and playful ways.
