ABODI Transylvania unveils wearable art during Paris Couture Week

05 / 02 / 2026

ABODI Transylvania does not romanticize folklore but rather revitalizes it for the present by drawing inspiration from the toughness, raw energy, and mysticism of Eastern Europe and the Balkans. You might have just discovered their work recently, their ceramic vampire hands worn by Rama Duwaji on The Cut cover.

Their latest collection, entitled “The Chronicles”  combines fashion and art, transforming Transylvanian folklore into a modern story about identity, power, and survival. The striking imagery is by long-term collaborator Szilveszter Makó where characters appear suspended between past and present, reinforcing the collection’s emotional and mythological depth.

Elisabeth Báthory, has been reimagined as a symbol of demonized female power in the collection. Historically labelled a witch, monster, and a serial killer, other researchers have found nothing to back this up except a 16th century smear campaign. Here she appears as a non-submissive leader. Her tale highlights enduring patriarchal systems and the persistent cultural pressure placed on women to remain young, controlled, and beautiful. Through the photography series, Ursula Wangander transforms into a gallery of dark archetypes.
