The Japanese fashion house joins forces with ASICS to launch Issey Miyake Foot, a footwear project that places the body, movement and design at the centre of everyday life.
With Issey Miyake Foot, developed by Miyake Design Studio in collaboration with ASICS, the brand takes a quiet but decisive step into footwear. Set to debut globally in January 2026, the project does not aim to reinvent the sneaker through excess, but through attention to how the foot moves, how it is supported, and how design can become part of daily rhythm rather than an interruption.
The first model, HYPER TAPING, starts from a familiar point: the ASICS Stripes. Originally conceived as a balance between identity and function, they become the basis for a new taping system developed by Miyake Design Studio. Here, structure is visible and purposeful. The shoe holds the foot gently, guiding movement without restricting it, while giving the silhouette a clear, graphic presence.
There is a restrained playfulness to the design. A wrestling-inspired outsole grounds the sneaker in sport, while a redesigned insole makes it suitable for everyday wear. Colour combinations bring a soft retro note, avoiding nostalgia for its own sake. Nothing feels overstated.
HYPER TAPING will launch worldwide in January 2026 through Issey Miyake and ASICS.
