Miss Claire Sullivan is a young independent fashion designer who embodies the energy of New York City with a doll-like touch. It’s also not uncommon to catch her in one of her signature tutus downtown or uptown. She began creating custom fashion in 2022, making the leap to launch Miss Claire Sullivan and establish her own New York-based couture atelier.
Recurring themes in Sullivan’s work include sensuality and femininity. Before finding her own atelier, she worked as the co-creative director and designer for four years at Vaquera, backed by Comme des Garçons, where she learned to break all the rules and became no stranger to Paris Fashion Week. Her passion for the history of couture and drawing on tradition to apply it to modernity can be seen in her custom pieces which she has made for Shygirl, Addison Rae, Chloë Sevigny, and Clairo; and Doechii, Sarah Paulson, Rachel Zegler, Kylie Jenner, and Troye Sivan just this past year.
Her unique designs’ exuberant, exaggerated proportions, waist-whittling corsetry, and irreverent, hyperfeminine flourishes—such as enormous bows and ribbon trimmings— are reminiscent in spirit of Vivienne Westwood’s early creations. Lookbook 001 brings her one-of-a-kind pieces together with contrasting patterns, tailored elements, billowing fabrics, and mismatching textures with the unapologetic confidence that fashion may have lost, but she is bringing back.
