Twenty-six years ago, Collier Schorr dreamed of photographing Margaret Howell. Now, the photographer captures its Autumn/Winter 2026 collection through movement and identity.

Some creative encounters begin long before they happen. For Collier Schorr and Margaret Howell, the story stretches back to the 1980s, when the photographer first discovered the British designer through advertisements in i-D. She was drawn to Howell’s mix of boyishness and softness, and to clothes that could move easily between menswear and womenswear.
Around 2000, while in London photographing a Topman campaign, Schorr left her first book, ‘Conquistadores’, at a Margaret Howell store, hoping it might reach the designer. The call never came. Last year, she asked her agent to approach the brand again. This time, the answer was yes.

Movement defines the resulting Autumn/Winter 2026 images. Schorr often circles her subjects while shooting, interested in how bodies change and how clothes transform as they follow them. Howell’s relaxed tailoring, knitwear, wool coats and functional outerwear become part of that physical exchange.
The campaign also reflects a shift in Schorr herself. After decades refining her photographic language, she approached a collaboration she had once imagined from a different point in her career. What began as a book left in a London shop finally became a new beginning.
