Jenny Fax Spring Summer 2027: Just don’t be happy, don’t be happy

05 / 10 / 2026

Jenny Fax turns contradiction into a creative language. For SS27, childhood memories, Asian and European influences, faith and everyday life collide in a collection that finds beauty somewhere between happiness and uncertainty.

It has always been a kind of little personal motto of mine. I think it comes from a combination of my own personality and the way I was raised by Asian parents there was always this feeling that being too happy, or celebrating too much, might somehow tempt fate. In a strange way, I grew up believing that staying a little cautious could bring more luck.

Culture has always been deeply present throughout my life, often in ways that contradict each other.

I grew up in Asia, but my parents were fascinated by European royal gardens and courtly aesthetics. I wasn’t particularly religious, yet | spent three years at a very devout Christian school, surrounded by prayers, crosses, and religious rituals.

At home, there was an old, worn out sofa where my siblings and I created so many memories. I remember Saturday afternoons spent together in bathtub, while piles of laundry were constantly stacked around the house balcony like mountains.

These seemingly unrelated pieces different cultures, family habits, religious imagery, childhood memories, and everyday domestic life have all stayed with me.

I think this mixture is what makes my creative world uniquely mine.

Rather than belonging entirely to one culture or one tradition, my work comes from the spaces in between: between Asia and Europe, faith and doubt, beauty of everyday life.

These contradictions and memories have become an important part of how I see the world, and ultimately, they are what make my work what it is. – Jenny Fax
