Inspired by his childhood in a small Spanish town, Abraham Ortuño recalls the afternoons spent accompanying his mother to local boutiques, where Parisian imported fashion symbolized an unattainable dream. In his collection called ‘Fashion Boutique’ (or maybe not), he recaptures that nostalgia and blends it with the post-punk aesthetic of the ’80s. A tribute to aspiration, beauty, and the rituals of dressing.

Abraham Ortuño, the creative mind behind the Spanish label Abra, showcased his Fall/Winter 2025 collection at Paris Fashion Week, offering a personal and nostalgic homage to the small-town boutiques of the 1980s. Drawing from his childhood memories of shopping trips with his mother, Ortuño reflects on the charm of local stores where imported fashion held the allure of sophistication and exclusivity. With ‘Fashion Boutique’—according to Abra, is not the name of this collection, though he has neither confirmed nor denied it—he fuses post-punk influences with intimate fashion rituals, turning those early experiences into a poetic tribute to beauty and ambition.

Ortuño, known for his accessory focus, shifted to garments this season, celebrating fashion as a whole. The collection featured unexpected details emphasizing the ritual of shopping, such as earrings left in their original packaging and newspaper-inspired prints. Accessories drew from humble objects, like paper bags influencing shoes and clutches mimicking plastic bags. Growing up in a small village, Ortuño cherished packaging as symbols of luxury, which influenced many designs.

Hair and makeup were inspired by Siouxsie Sioux’s iconic post-punk look, reinforcing the rebellious spirit of the time. A special mention goes to the shoes adorned with pompons, perhaps a subtle nod to the harlequin figure, echoing the bold volumes and shapes of designers like Gaultier, Westwood, and Toledo, who challenged fashion norms in the 1980s.  Abra’s FW25 collection is a nostalgic, personal tribute to a time when shopping was a dream, not just a transaction, proving fashion is about the emotions, aspirations, and stories it embodies.
