At CeraVe’s first-ever Global CerAwards in Los Angeles, sunscreen, social media, and creator culture collided, offering a glimpse into the future of beauty in the age of the algorithm.

SPF has quietly become beauty’s ultimate flex. Long relegated to beach bags and pharmacy shelves, sun protection is now the product around which entire skincare routines revolve, fuelled by TikTok skincare gurus, UV-camera reveals and a generation increasingly obsessed with prevention over correction. As beauty culture continues to blur with wellness culture, SPF has evolved it’s become a form of social currency, signaling a certain level of skincare literacy in an era where looking after your future face is just as important as perfecting your current one. Few brands have embraced that shift as enthusiastically as CeraVe.
This month, the skincare giant brought 111 award-winning creators from 22 countries to Los Angeles for the first-ever Global CerAwards, a Hollywood-scale celebration of the creators, healthcare professionals and skincare enthusiasts who are redefining how skin health is communicated online. Originally launched in Spain in 2023, the program has rapidly expanded across the globe, receiving more than 5,000 submissions this year alone before narrowing the field to a select group of finalists.

As Vincent Chauvière, Global Brand President of CeraVe, explained “With the inaugural Global CerAwards, we’re taking that commitment even further by bringing together 111 creators from 22 countries for a one-of-a-kind Hollywood experience designed to push the boundaries of storytelling, spark creativity and redefine what’s possible when creators, science and entertainment come together.”
Hosted on a Hollywood studio lot, the event doubled as a showcase for CeraVe’s latest sunscreen innovations. Rather than relying on traditional product demonstrations, the brand transformed SPF education into a series of immersive content challenges designed for the social media age. Creators sprinted through a simulated Malibu beach in Raywatch to demonstrate sand-resistant formulas, dodged the sun in The SPF Games, and tackled a rooftop obstacle course highlighting the sweat-resistant performance of CeraVe’s newest sunscreen launches. Elsewhere, a laser-filled mission centered around the brand’s Foaming Cleanser turned skincare science into something closer to an action movie than a product tutorial.

The event was a distinctly 2026 blend of education, entertainment and algorithm-friendly storytelling. It’s a strategy that reflects a wider shift within beauty culture, where consumers increasingly discover products through creators rather than traditional advertising, and skincare influencers have become some of the most trusted voices in the industry. Together, attendees at this year’s event represented a combined audience of more than 44 million followers, highlighting the enormous reach of today’s skincare community.
The festivities culminated at Los Angeles’ historic Wiltern Theatre, where actress and comedian Meg Stalter 5which you probably know from Hacks and if you haven’t binged Too Much yet put it on your list!) hosted an awards ceremony celebrating the creators shaping the future of skincare content. Winners were inducted into the brand’s global creator collective, the Ceramide Squad, recognizing the growing importance of creator-led education in the beauty space.
The Global CerAwards gave us a snapshot of where beauty culture is heading. In an era where SPF is social currency and dermatologists share feeds with influencers, skincare education is no longer confined to the clinic. It’s happening on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, shaped by creators whose recommendations can influence millions of purchasing decisions with a single post. The CerAwards recognized that reality and celebrated the community turning skin health into one of the internet’s most powerful conversations.
