Presented in just four minutes at the New York Public Library, Marc Jacobs’ SS27 collection celebrates colour, transparency and the freedom to dress without restraint.

A wardrobe built on optimism, sheer layers and saturated colour defined Marc Jacobs‘ Spring/Summer 2027 collection. Presented in just four minutes at the New York Public Library, the show condensed 31 looks into a concise statement that felt both instinctive and intentional, proving that brevity can leave a lasting impression.

Rather than chasing novelty, Jacobs looked inward. Built around the idea of gratitude, the collection revisited familiar references through a lighter, more optimistic lens, transforming memories and personal influences into something fresh. The result was expressive without feeling nostalgic, theatrical without losing its ease.

Transparency became the collection’s defining thread, appearing in airy shirts, pencil skirts, fluid trousers and delicate dresses. Butter yellow, icy blue, acid green, lavender and vivid orange replaced restrained palettes, while chain belts, silk scarves and sharp tailoring subtly referenced fashion history without becoming costume.

Beauty was equally central to the narrative. The runway also marked the relaunch of Marc Jacobs Beauty, with makeup artist Thomas de Kluyver creating graphic black eyeliner and glossy lips in vivid shades. Moving away from the clean girl aesthetic, the beauty look reinforced the collection’s celebration of individuality and self-expression.
