Sohee Park, the South Korea-born London-based designer behind Miss Sohee, presented her Spring Summer 2025 collection as an official guest for the first time on the ever-so-prestigious Haute Couture calendar in Paris.

At 28, she is also the youngest and only of a few women that make up the schedule. I just want to unpack the figure that came out last year that 85% of majors from top fashion schools are female, but only hold around 14% of the jobs in major houses. Since going viral in 2020 when she released her first collection on Instagram as a new Central Saint Martins graduate, her belle-of-the-ball-style gowns have garnered many fans resonating with women dreaming from their screens to those hitting the red carpet including Ariana Grande, Anya Taylor Joy,  Bella Hadid, Cardi B, and Miley Cyrus.

For Spring/Summer 2025, Miss Sohee’s pristine craftsmanship fuses couture and sculpture into jaw-dropping gowns full of otherworldly embellishments, this is couture darlings! Coco Rocha opened the show, styled by Oliver Volquardsen, wearing a black Chantilly lace catsuit with a veil and a leather lace-up corset with curved hip panels shaped like shells. At the 18th-century Hôtel Pozzo di Borgo, the former residence of Karl Lagerfeld, Princesses Maria Carolina and Chiara of Bourbon-Two Sicilies were just some of the notable front-row guests as models walked out in pieces that transcended the boundary between fashion and art. Heritage played a significant role, drawing parallels between traditional Korean and Western dress which demonstrated that culture sees no boundaries in couture.

Miss Sohee has definitely left her mark on Haute Couture from her use of Najeonchilgi, the intricate Korean technique of inlaying mother-of-pearl landscapes into lacquerware in her designs to reimagined voluminous Hanbok skirts.
