From Barcelona, Studio 517 is introducing its design universe with WINDY CUP, a handmade ceramic piece that puts a little pause into everyday life. And this is only the beginning.

Everything moves a little too fast. Between endless scrolling, overflowing calendars and the pressure to always be somewhere else, slowing down has almost become a luxury. For Andrea Robres, founder of Barcelona-based design studio Studio 517, that feeling became the starting point for something tangible: WINDY CUP, the studio’s first object.
Designed to be held with both hands, WINDY CUP is a low, wide, handleless ceramic cup that invites you to take a moment and actually enjoy your coffee. Each piece is thrown and glazed by hand in Barcelona, making the process just as important as the final object. Rather than following the logic of mass production, Studio 517 introduces the cup through limited drops. Its first release, Batch 01, includes 150 pieces across twelve different colourways, each with its own name and code. Think Pink Lady, Lichen or Magma. Once a colourway sells out, it’s gone.

But WINDY CUP is about more than just the perfect coffee companion. It represents a way of approaching design that values time, process and the small rituals that often get lost in everyday life.
“WINDY started as an idea about how everything in life goes by too fast. Making these cups was my way of making time for myself,” explains Andrea. Even the unexpected cancellation of the studio’s first market debut due to a mini-hurricane became part of the story. “We took it as a good sign.”
With its first object now out in the world, Studio 517 is setting the foundations for a creative universe that goes beyond ceramics. WINDY CUP feels less like a final destination and more like an introduction: a first glimpse into a design language that is still taking shape.
For now, the message is simple: take your time, enjoy your coffee and keep an eye on what’s coming next. Studio 517 has only just started.

WINDY CUP Batch 01 is available at studio517.es, priced at €35.
