Victor Weinsanto is making a serious impact on the Paris fashion scene, he did garner his savoir-faire under the best having spent his formative years working under Jean Paul Gaultier before finding his own label in 2020. Since then, he was shortlisted for the prestigious LVMH Prize and 2023 saw him selected for the Forbes “30 under 30” list, not to mention, he was named an ambassador for NONA Source, highlighting his dedication to sustainable fashion. Thomas Lizzi takes us backstage at a disused basement in Parisian’s favourite Place to protest, to capture the highly anticipated collection «Complètement Givrée» opening Paris Fashion Week before models in spiky boots and silver leather bustiers are guided to the runway with the voice of Camille Lellouche.
Weinsanto’s signature corsetry is found in tops, pleated skirts, jumpsuits, and jackets. The color scheme is a dramatic combination of deep blacks, metallic greys, and ice whites and blues, with hints of patterns inspired by the aurora borealis—those gentle tones of the cold north. Weinsanto offers quilted down jackets and coats and bombers with built-in capes that are completely icy from head to toe perfect Volume is crucial as the down jacket garments follow his muse for several meters. New technological materials are explored such as faded and cracked vegan leathers and imitation furs, in addition to Nona Source fabrics. From velvet to opulent silks, the textures reveal their full beauty in a delicate tango between opacity and transparency. If White Lotus Season Three was set at a ski-resort, they need some pieces that either frosty or crazy, like the collection’s name: «Complètement Givrée» !
