‘Esencia Sensual’ transforms the symbolic universe of Ukrainian artist Nina Murashkina into wearable porcelain sculptures. The collection is on view at Isla Feral in Barcelona until 6 August.

The body becomes a surface for storytelling in Nina Murashkina’s latest project. Presented at Isla Feral, ‘Esencia Sensual’ brings together porcelain jewellery poised between adornment and art.

Brooches, rings and pendants reproduce fragments from the artist’s drawings and ceramic sculptures. By changing scale, these forms acquire a new intimacy and move from the exhibition space to the skin. Painted beneath the glaze and finished with 24 carat ceramic gold, they preserve the saturated colours and expressive lines of Murashkina’s practice.

Born in Donetsk, Ukraine, the artist has developed a visual language where personal memory, Victorian literature and popular iconography converge. Snakes, beds, eyes, books and hybrid creatures shape stories of eroticism, humour, vulnerability and transformation.

Murashkina describes this universe as magical feminism. Its protagonists are complex women, at once powerful, sensual and exposed. Conceived as alter egos and metaphorical portraits of herself, they explore desire, sexuality, intuition and identity.

In ‘Esencia Sensual’, this mythology is condensed into portable objects that turn the body into an extension of the artistic narrative. The collection can be visited at Isla Feral, Carrer del Pintor Fortuny 30, Barcelona, until 6 August.
