‘Kitten’: Not For Radio’s tender descent into desire

A psychedelic dance party in the forest comes to life in ‘Kitten’, the new video by María Zardoya’s solo project, Not For Radio.

Best known as the lead singer of The Marías, María Zardoya explores a more intimate and experimental territory through Not For Radio. In ‘Kitten’, she turns the forest into a nocturnal space where desire, vulnerability and movement converge.

‘Kitten’, one of the three tracks on the EP ‘Bloom’, approaches desire as a form of surrender. Zardoya’s breathy vocals unfold over a sensual, slow-burning production created alongside Sam Evian and Gianluca Buccellati. The image of a kitten held in someone’s arms captures the song’s central contradiction: the longing to feel protected and the vulnerability of placing oneself in another person’s hands.

Released on 16 July, the official video brings that emotional tension to life as a psychedelic dance party in the forest. Based on Zardoya’s concept and creative direction, director and cinematographer Carlos Creazzola transforms the woods into a dreamlike setting populated by dancers, saturated lights and real kittens. Movement direction by @imnude gives the gathering a physical, almost ritual quality, while LEFT leads the production.

The natural setting also extends the imagery introduced with Not For Radio’s 2025 debut album, ‘Melt’, recorded during winter in upstate New York. While that record emerged from heartbreak and emotional retreat, ‘Bloom’ opens onto a new season of intimacy and transformation. In ‘Kitten’, that shift feels tender, seductive and slightly wild.
