Presented at the latest edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion, MARÍA is Anel Yaos’ luminous ode to white — not as absence, but as origin. A collection where texture, volume and emotion take center stage.
“MARÍA appeared like a beam of light in my mind. María is my sister, my other self, and an endless source of inspiration. María is white” – Anel Yaos.
White becomes a daydream in MARÍA, the latest collection by Anel Yaos. A color so often linked to simplicity or silence reveals, in his hands, a spectrum of light and nuance — shifting between softness and structure, stillness and strength. From chalk to pearl, marble to moonlight, white unfolds like a story told through fabric.
Faithful to his surreal and naïve aesthetic, Yaos uses white as a language — a second skin, a fragile whisper, a gentle shield. Sometimes intimate, sometimes protective, but always tender. The absence of color doesn’t mute the emotion; it amplifies it.
Silhouettes emerge sculptural and unexpected, built through layering and playful volumes. The collection is stripped of all excess in hue, yet rich in construction — minimal in palette, maximal in form. There’s a quiet drama in each piece, a subtle choreography between the body and the garment.
Textures carry the narrative. Neoprene, lace, silk, wool, knit, faux fur and leather compose a sensual, tactile vocabulary. They speak softly but insistently — about care, about memory, about presence. Every material evokes a different mood within this monochrome world, adding depth without distraction.
