Juergen Teller turns a Biarritz hotel into a stage for Balenciaga’s Winter 25, where each character emerges through carefully fractured scenes.
Balenciaga unveils its Winter 25 campaign through the lens of Juergen Teller, with visuals co-created alongside his wife and creative partner Dovile. Filmed in a hotel in Biarritz, the campaign reimagines Teller’s earlier photo series ‘The Clients’, using its structure to portray a couture clientele in unfamiliar yet intimate settings.
The cast is striking: Nicole Kidman, Isabelle Huppert, Claudia Schiffer, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Arthur Chen, Liu Wen, Adut Akech and Roxane all inhabit different spaces within the hotel. From stairwells to salons, each setting interacts with the garments—bold silhouettes, layered structures, and reworked classics—building a visual rhythm between stillness and tension. Rather than stage glamour, the images expose the textures, volumes and shapes of the clothing with a raw and immediate energy.
The collection spans the full wardrobe spectrum, including selections from the Balenciaga | PUMA collaboration. Accessories stand out in the frame: the Rodeo Handbag in pink croc-embossed leather or waxed suede, the shearling Le City Bag, and the new Carrie Carry-All in sesame. Footwear experiments with form and material: the satin-sport hybrid Shibuya Pump, the Hamptons Sneaker, and the soft Bel Air Flat Ballerina all challenge conventional categories.
Teller also directs a short film accompanying the campaign, layering voice-over reflections onto the visuals to expand on his process. The result is a sequence of gestures and details that reveal the collection through instinct, not instruction. With this campaign, Balenciaga continues to build a vocabulary rooted in visual tension, shifting context and unexpected presence.
