From the tropics to the Paris Opera. For SS27, Colombian brand BAOBAB brought Caribbean colour, movement and sensuality to the Palais Garnier, turning its Paris debut into a full-blown celebration.

BAOBAB brought its tropical universe to the Palais Garnier for Spring/Summer 2027, marking a historic moment as the first Colombian fashion brand to present at the Paris landmark. Titled “From the Tropics to the Opera,” the collection transformed the grandeur of the historic setting through a distinctly Colombian lens, bringing together the romance of opera with the freedom of resortwear. Lace introduced a more theatrical note to BAOBAB’s vocabulary, appearing alongside asymmetric silhouettes, fluid shapes and bold cuts. The landscapes and coastlines of Colombia surfaced through vibrant colour, tactile textures and clothes designed to move, creating a collection that felt equally at home on a Caribbean shore or beneath the chandeliers of the Garnier.
The presentation went beyond a conventional runway, with Cartagena’s El Colegio del Cuerpo contemporary dance company bringing the clothes to life through movement, while Caribbean artist Lido Pimienta performed during the show. The Colombian celebration continued into the Grand Foyer, where Latin Grammy winners Grupo Niche brought salsa to the Paris Opera for the first time, followed by a DJ set from Medellín institution Perro Negro. More than a fashion presentation, BAOBAB’s Paris debut became a meeting of Colombian culture and Parisian spectacle, placing the colour, rhythm and sensuality of the tropics inside one of the city’s most storied cultural spaces.
