More is More with “Thistle” by Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY

26 / 01 / 2026

Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY is the anti-thesis and ready to put to bed the era of quiet luxury and clean beauty. Less isn’t more, more is more with his fall collection “Thistle”. Staged at Dover Street Market Paris with a cast of only four models and a live performance Baby’s Berserk, the room transformed into a a pagan-punk immersive space during Paris Fashion Week. The presentation captured the spirit of the first LOVERBOY club nights, more than ten years ago, where you could find the Scottish designer in full platforms and makeup behind the decks.

“They say madness is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Not at LOVERBOY. Here, we know that everything can change in a heartbeat; that our outfits will peel and dishevel as a night gets long, that we’ll tear our gowns and live with it, roll up a sleeve, scuff up a shoe, and love it. We are still showing up, as we always have, in defense, in defiance. The thistle.” Stated in the LOVERBOY notes for Fall Winter 2026.

Tartans clashing and sleeves fastened like sashes are reminders of Scottish rebellion. Beanies are disassembled and then put back together, sweaters are put along with a cardigans along with a scarf, ruffled dresses, 80s cuts,  while tights are followed by two pairs of socks. Here, the past and present blend together, layered like the clothing for a carefully curated mess.

Recently a friend reached out because her teen daughter was getting bullied at school because of her fashion illustrations, all she did in her free time was sketch. Not only were her’s great, but originality is disappearing out of fear and there shouldn’t be a template or right or wrong way to be original thus I was excited to see that Charles Jeffrey made some of his sketches from “Thistle” available.

We are reminded that times are tough and that the friends we have are our lifelines. We party together, we fight together. Every day might be a battle, LOVERBOY will forever be for the weirdos by the weirdos, and in a world where every fashion critic is trying to define luxury today, LOVERBOY knows exactly their language of luxury and that space carved out needs to be protected at all costs.
