Jil Sander expands its footwear direction with Hood, a new design by Simone Bellotti that refines the moccasin through reduction and proportion.

What does it mean to reshape something already familiar? With the introduction of Hood, Jil Sander defines a new step in its footwear offering under Simone Bellotti, presented as part of the Spring/Summer 2026 collection and now available through the brand’s boutiques and website. Developed through a process of reduction, the design takes the moccasin as its starting point and reworks it through proportion, material and weight. The result maintains a recognisable structure while shifting its presence, aligning with Bellotti’s focus on continuity and everyday use.
Hood begins with a familiar form. The moccasin is preserved in its outline, then reduced to its essential construction. This decision allows the silhouette to operate without distraction, where each element responds to balance rather than ornament. Bellotti approaches the object through observation, working from what already exists and refining it until only its necessary components remain.

The upper is crafted in smooth leather, shaped with a moc toe construction that reinforces its rounded profile. The surface remains clean and uninterrupted, directing attention toward the relationship between material and proportion. This rounded form introduces a slower rhythm, maintaining the character associated with traditional moccasins while adjusting its visual presence.
A key transformation occurs at the base. Hood replaces the traditional crepe sole with a thin rubber sole, reducing both physical and visual weight. This shift alters how the shoe sits and moves, introducing a lighter and more controlled structure while preserving its identity. The balance between upper and sole becomes central, defining the shoe through contrast and precision.
