ZGeneration Makes off-schedule Paris Upcycled Debut

With its Paris runway debut, ZGeneration turns upcycling into activism. Mohammad Amin’s Collection 0 merges queer futurism, craft, and community—proving fashion can be both a shelter and a force for change.

Iranian-French brand ZGeneration, founded by Mohammad Amin, made its first Paris runway debut with a collection that is as socially committed as it is visually striking. Known for creating safe spaces for the queer community in Iran, Amin translates this ethos into his brand, using fashion as a platform for inclusion and activism.

Collection 0 was entirely upcycled from second-hand pieces sourced in Paris, including garments, curtains, and placemats, alongside bioplastics and 3D-printed elements. Every piece is carefully deconstructed, cleaned, repaired, and reworked in Parisian workshops: a football t-shirt might receive delicate lace embroidery, or a wool outfit might be entirely taken apart and reassembled. The result is a gender-neutral line that bridges past and future, reflecting both craftsmanship and sustainability.

Styled by Helvetico, the show merged maximalist and delicate aesthetics with a set design balancing futuristic and natural elements. Backstage photographer Jonathan Boucher captured the meticulous process and the communal energy that defines ZGeneration.
