Ela Minus turns light into sound in a new chapter with BERSHKA MUSIC
Some artists chase the future. Ela Minus seems to build it herself. The Colombian producer, singer, and sound architect has always existed slightly outside the usual lanes of electronic music. Her work is intimate but expansive, precise but emotional. Now she enters a new chapter through a collaboration with BERSHKA MUSIC, premiering a previously unreleased track that feels like both an ending and a quiet rebirth.

The song, titled TIEMPO DEFINIDO POR LA PRESENCIA DE LUZ, arrives as a conceptual closing moment to her latest album DÍA. Rather than simply releasing the track online, the project unfolded as something closer to a living artwork. A carefully selected audience was invited to witness the filming of the performance, turning the recording process into a shared and immersive experience.
It is a subtle shift in how music can exist in public. Instead of presenting a finished product, the process itself becomes part of the narrative. For Ela Minus, whose work has always been deeply personal, this openness adds another emotional layer.
BERSHKA MUSIC has spent the last few years building a platform that highlights artists with strong creative identities and global reach. With Ela Minus, the project aligns itself with one of the most forward-thinking figures in contemporary electronic music. The collaboration expands the initiative beyond traditional music sessions, blending performance, film, and digital storytelling across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.

But to understand the intensity of Ela Minus’ sonic universe, it helps to look back at where it began. Born in Bogotá, she first entered music as a drummer in a rock band while still young. Rhythm came before electronics. Later, she moved to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music, earning two degrees before relocating to New York. There she performed as a drummer for other artists while also working as a synthesizer designer, a technical world that would profoundly shape her artistic language. That background explains why her music feels both engineered and alive.

Her debut album acts of rebellion in 2020 introduced a stripped-down form of electronic pop built from analog machines, whispered vocals, and a fierce sense of independence. It was minimal but emotionally charged, like a diary written in circuitry. With her second album DÍA, released via Domino, she expanded that vision. Written over three years while moving between different places and emotional states, the record explores vulnerability, growth, and self-discovery. Tracks such as IDK, UPWARDS, and IDOLS move through themes of pain, resilience, and transformation. One of the most striking aspects of the album is that many of the sounds come from instruments she built herself, including devices like the pocket piano and the Septavox. For Ela Minus, technology is not just a tool. It is part of the storytelling.

That creative control has not gone unnoticed. The single QQQQ from DÍA received a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Latin Electronic Music Performance in 2025, marking a new milestone in a career that continues to evolve on its own terms.
Now, with TIEMPO DEFINIDO POR LA PRESENCIA DE LUZ, she extends the emotional universe of DÍA one step further. The track feels like the final glow of a long night, reflective and quietly powerful.
In Ela Minus’ world, machines do not replace human feeling. They amplify it. And sometimes, they turn light itself into sound.
