A long corridor, a wall of mirrors, and a line of hairdressers with make-up artists preparing the stars of the next play. A door in the middle opens up to the entrails of the Republique Theater, where you feel small facing the iron structure that shapes the seats.
Over the table of delicacies, crowned by sheer sheets, the show was about to start. An arranged white scenario with dishes, silverware, crystal glasses and musical instruments. In the middle is a bronze Roman-like statue.
Music to my ears, a live group performance (Hess is More), surprised the audience as a plastic envelope unveiled two drummers aside. One of them is Henrik Vibskov. This designer’s show can never be ordinary. Catwalks are not just people walking_ you get invited to a show. Each year is a different story displaced in a unique way. Models become actors as you get immersed in Henrik Vibskov’s world.
This AW collection’s topic focuses on the intricate dance between humanity’s desire to dominate nature in contrast with the self-preserving forces that govern the natural world. So is that we could appreciate classic shapes as a way of going back to nature, some functional outerwear, mountaineering style and jackets with double dusters, without forgetting the signature check patterns (which now had footprints to represent the traces we leave in nature) and some pinstripes. All of that is styled in a fresh and modern way to play out with the colours, dominated by earthy tones in contrast with sulfur yellow and orange.
Mousy wide bream hats completed the looks, but that wasn’t the only animal reference in the collection as some sleeves seemed snakes due to the peculiar intercalation of colours. Tyrolean feather patches were the final touch in many pieces, giving hunter vibes.
Models showing off their looks both ways when walking upon the gigantic table, with the musicians on the sides playing dreamy soundscapes, the soft lighting and all the sheer ceiling decoration, only proved once more that fashion is an expression and art that is enhanced when other disciplines come into the picture.
