From archival echoes to contemporary visions, Balenciaga distills nearly eighty years of history into ten perfumes.

Balenciaga steps back into perfumery with ‘Olfactive Rebirth’, arriving close to eighty years after Cristóbal Balenciaga’s first scent, ‘Le Dix’. Conceived after a fifteen-year archival search that led to the rediscovery of an original 1947 bottle, the collection reimagines the founder’s legacy with contemporary precision. The flacons echo the historic design with globular stoppers, hand-tied ribbons and deliberately aged packaging, while adopting refillable systems and recyclable materials as a modern gesture of responsibility.

At its heart lies the revival of ‘Le Dix’, rebuilt with iris, violet leaf and incense to honour the house’s first fragrance while introducing a new sharpness. Around it unfolds a constellation of nine creations that translate couture thinking into scent: compositions that move from marine brightness and sun-warmed skinscapes to musky intimacies and the gravity of oud and patchouli named in honour of Cristóbal himself. The result is an olfactory language that oscillates between light and density, clarity and smoke, revealing tension as a creative method.

More than nostalgia, ‘Olfactive Rebirth’ proposes perfume as a dialogue between time and technique. It fuses the discipline of French perfumery with Balenciaga’s instinct for radical form, using high-craft materials and precise structures to surface unexpected facets. In this synthesis—heritage folding into invention—the house articulates a new chapter that feels both inevitable and freshly imagined.

Available at the Balenciaga Fragrance Store at 10 avenue George V in Paris, at select Balenciaga boutiques in Europe and North America, and progressively worldwide, the collection reads as a manifesto of transformation, affirming that time can renew as much as it preserves.
